BSN to DNP - Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

The Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program encompasses a breadth of services to children from infants through adolescence. This program prepares nurse practitioners to practice primarily in acute care environments such as intensive care units, emergency departments and trauma centers however this practice is not limited to in-hospital settings.
The acute care focus of this program of study is different than a primary care PNP focus and allows the graduate to be eligible for the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) national certification examination, specifically for the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Core concepts include emphasis on embryology, genetics, pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, differential diagnosis and treatment, developmental, cultural, and family care. Additional advanced skills are taught through a variety or simulated and clinical environments required for competence in a critical care environment.
Modality
The BSN to DNP program is delivered using a blend of: eight, 2-4 day immersion sessions at the Irvine campus; internships/clinical practice in hospitals, clinics and health centers near your home or work; and online lectures, demonstrations and exercises.
