Associate of Science in Psychology

The Associate of Science Degree in Psychology is a study of the methods and findings of contemporary psychology. This program includes a survey of human behavior, sensory process, human development, perception, learning, motivation and emotion, personality, adjustment, abnormal behavior, therapy and social interaction. Students will learn contemporary theories and issues in marriage and family therapy, as well as an overview of major classic and current Personality Theories. Students will take an eclectic, multicultural approach to abnormal behavior. This program will discuss counseling, the history of counseling and the theory behind its practice; exploring the multicultural, ethical, legal environments in which counselors operate; and examining the variety of skills today's counselors are expected to exhibit. Students must meet the following course requirements: 6 Core Courses, 10 General Education Courses, and 4 General Elective Courses, for a total of 60 semester units of credit.
