The Associate of Science Degree in Computer Technology prepares graduates to enter the field of computer science as technical professionals in a variety of industries. Computer technologists play important roles in supporting software and hardware solutions to business enterprises. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills needed to serve in multidisciplinary work teams that integrate computer and technical environments with other business solutions.

The program includes courses such as:

CIS100 Introduction to Computer Science: This course provides students with a general orientation to computer science, including a basic understanding of the components of a computer and how they function. It will introduce the student to the process of program development and provide the student with an overview of computer operations to include the operating system, basic networking and telecommunications.

CIS250 Introduction to Network Security: Students will be introduced to techniques in securing network transmissions. Encryption, firewall implementation, and virtual private networks (VPNs) will be discussed in securing data transmission across public network.

CIS299 Capstone Project – Computer Technology: In this course students will synthesize their knowledge and skills of computer technology in completion of a summative project. Working either individually or in teams, students will design and test a computer system and specifications to meet a simple business needs.
