Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care. Substantial growth in the middle-aged and elderly population will heighten the incidence of cardiopulmonary disease over the next decade creating great demand for qualified respiratory therapists, supervisors and managers. This specialized bachelor's degree program offers an opportunity for respiratory therapists to advance their education by acquiring a bachelor's degree and skills that are relevant to their current vocation. The curriculum provides an in-depth examination of advanced patient care, risk management, regulations, pharmacology, statistics, and transcultural health care, along with trends, ethics and spirituality in health care. Courses also focus on quality improvement, respiratory care of critically ill, and polysomnography and sleep disorders. Furthermore, a capstone project is designed to aid in the development of inquiry and research skills. Graduates of this program are equipped with expertise and skills needed to be highly effective respiratory therapists and to advance their career in the area of respiratory therapy.
