MA in Teaching - Teacher Leadership (No IR, No Cert.)

Offered By: Grand Canyon University

Master of Arts in Teaching with an Emphasis in Teacher Leadership (Not Eligible for Institutional Recommendation). This next-level degree program is designed for certified elementary and secondary teachers interested in advanced studies in education. Coursework in this program may assist in a teacher's quest for National Board Certification, but does not guarantee that certification. Courses in this regionally accredited program address a wide variety of issues relevant to the K–12 classroom and schools, including classroom engagement and management, current methods and strategies, theory and research. The curriculum also examines collegial coaching as a staff development model used to increase student learning, facilitate discussions among colleagues, and build trusting relationships among teachers. Participants reflect on current practices or expand, refine, and build new skills by utilizing peer coaching.

Opportunities are provided to apply concepts, theories, and research throughout the program. Assignments within each course guide students through observational and practice-based experiences. Participants must have access to a K–12 classroom to complete the program assignments. Graduates of this program are prepared to become informed educators equipped to facilitate and promote continuous and sustainable scholastic improvement.
