Homeland Security and Human Rights Executive Track

Formed in 2002, the Department of Homeland Security has become one of the most centralized defense organizations within the United States. This program prepares students to not only be informed global citizens, but develop a keen awareness of public safety issues. The coursework includes, engaging in theory and practices of Homeland Security, understanding Homeland Security departments' processes, examining international security issues within the framework of the human rights agenda, and analyzing global mechanisms for response and defense with international actors. Areas of specialization include: public safety, security management, cyber security, emergency preparedness, international terrorism studies, and global security issues.

The programs at IMSE are a great vehicle for professional development for journalists, international attorneys, community leaders, and members of homeland security to just name a few. Our program offerings are accelerated in order to meet the needs of today's advocate, student, and professional. In addition with our accelerated programs, our students will find a unique educational format that is interactive, engaging, and dynamic in providing foundational learning and insights surrounding human rights.

General Admission: Students should have completed an associate's degree or 60 college credits from a U.S. accredited college and or CHEA recognized internationally accredited institution.

Criteria for professional with high school diploma or GED equivalent: Presently, we offer training for professionals with a high school diploma or GED equivalent if they work for a NGO or non-profit, military, state, or federal agency. Candidates that have also successful completed 3 years of non-profit volunteer service, with a high school diploma or GED are also welcome to apply.

This track consists of five courses, with each of the courses being seven days in length.
