The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with Bilingual Specialization degree program prepares educators to work effectively in a bilingual setting and provide leadership in curriculum and instruction in their schools. The program focuses on instructional methods and materials for teaching language and content to English Language Learners; the importance of culture in addressing learning needs; testing and evaluation; and developing curriculum for English Language Learners.

This program prepares educators to work effectively in a bilingual setting and provide leadership in curriculum and instruction in their schools. The program focuses on instructional methods and materials for teaching language and content to English Language Learners; the importance of culture in addressing learning needs; testing and evaluation; and developing curriculum.* (Check with your state department for certification requirements and program approval.)Courses
Courses apply directly to the demands placed on school leaders and provide the tools necessary to empower meaningful improvements in their schools.Coursework includes five core courses, including Community of Learners, Curriculum & Instructional Design (with emphasis on Multicultural Classrooms), and Teacher Leadership. In addition, there are seven additional courses, including Foundations of ESL and Bilingual Education, Methods & Materials for Teaching English as a Second Language, Cross-Cultural Studies for Teaching Limited English Proficient Students.
A total of twelve, 5-week courses will be completed in 18 months. There is typically 1-2 weeks off between courses.
