Master of Science in Information Technology - Network Management

The Master of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in Network Management is designed for students with a desire to develop professional skills in the main functional area of network management. This program focuses on preparing competent and ethical professionals who are skilled in analyzing the needs of an enterprise-wide organization, designing the equipment and technologies required, and planning the implementation of the resulting infrastructure.

What You Will Study:

Specialization coursework in this program focuses on a number of substantive areas applicable to the area of network management. Course content has been designed to help students investigate new changes in technologies, such as cloud computing, virtual servers, wireless protocols, satellites and the Internet. For example:

  • In Network Security, students conduct an in-depth analysis of privacy, integrity, availability and non-repudiation within a network environment.
  • In Network Administration, students study user management, backup management and high-reliability configuration system security while addressing network issues such as addressing and routing and Windows-UNIX interoperability.

  • Other specialization courses in the MSIT/Network Management program include:

    • Enterprise Network Architecture
    • IT Governance and Risk Management
    • Virtual Systems

    In addition to the core and specialization courses, students in this program select 4 credit hours from advanced level business, computer science or information technology courses. Successful completion of the MSIT program with a specialization in Network Management will provide students with an applicable foundation of business-related knowledge and skills.
