Master of Science in Information Systems

UMBC's online Master of Science in Information Systems program is intended for computer and information systems practitioners who desire to extend their knowledge and experience in Information systems (IS). The online MSIS, developed by our research faculty, is the same quality program as our on-campus Master's program. The design of the MS program is based on a competency model. The student progresses through several tiers of courses acquiring more complex skills and knowledge. Students will complete 34 credit hours of course work. Required courses include an Introduction to Information Systems I and II, Management Information Systems, Networks, Database Management Systems and Structured Systems Analysis and Design. All students must complete a total of six advanced courses, selecting from Interaction Design, Enterprise-Wide Computing, Project Management Operations, Health Informatics, Electronic Commerce, Computer and Network Security or Capstone Project.
