Master of Arts in Education - Curriculum & Instruction: English as a Second Language and/or Foreign Language Instruction

The Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum & Instruction degree is designed for public school teachers is one of two categories: 1) Foreign language teachers who would like graduate-level courses focusing on issues related to foreign language acquisition and pedagogy, and 2) Teachers who would like to become certificated in K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL). The program will have two major components: 1) All students will be required to fulfill the 12 credit hours of core degree requirements in the MAE in Curriculum and Instruction, and 2) students may choose a content area concentration which may be either ESL or Foreign Language. Students will have the option to simultaneously pursue both concentration areas. Students pursuing certification in other states must check with their State Department of Education for certification requirements.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney offers affordable tuition to out-of-state online students. For 2010-11, nonresident graduate online tuition is $356.00 per credit hour; resident graduate tuition is $218.00 per credit hour (fees are additional).
