Offered By: Upper Iowa University

The University of Upper Iowa Master of Public Administration program with an emphasis on Health and Human Services provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to assume a leadership role and to improve administrative and managerial quality in government and non-profit organizations.

The program intends to instill in learners an appreciation for how market efficiency and democratic values must be respected and balanced to promote the public good. Students will be able to apply their analytical, communication, problem solving and research skills to the complex and often interconnected and interdisciplinary problems faced by mangers and leaders in government agencies and non-profit organizations.

Coursework for the Health and Human Services emphasis includes: Public Policy and Healthcare, Health Care systems, Economics of the Helping Professions, Legal Environment of the Helping Professions, and Healthcare Financial Management.

Because UIU graduates are able to leverage the connections between theory and practice to help solve problems, they will be well qualified to assume managerial and leadership health services positions in the government and in the non-profit sector.
