The Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Urban Education prepares students to provide services, original approaches, and high performance strategies geared toward outcomes which improve teaching quality and student achievement. The program applies the techniques and practices developed and utilized in the groundbreaking work of high-performing schools recognized nationally and in best-practice research.
This specialty is appropriate for preschool, elementary, middle, and secondary teachers and other educational professionals who are seeking to focus on the educational needs of populations and communities located in metropolitan, urban or other high need settings. As a results-oriented program, the MA-Ed in Urban Education concludes with the demonstration of meaningful student academic achievement gains through an action research-based capstone experience.
Wisconsin Lutheran College's Master's program in Education is designed to assist educators who seek to develop reflective practitioner and research-assessment skills and build their leadership capacity to advance professionally. Graduate students learn how to plan for educational programming, apply instructional strategies, conduct assessment, and modify practice according to the needs of the organization and individual learners—all of which is shaped and embedded within a chosen specialty area.
The 36 credit degree program can be completed in less than 30 months by taking one course every eight weeks. The program culminates with a two-semester action research project and creation of a portfolio.
